Our Motivation

A wise man once said to “Seek Truth in Facts”.

Facts are based on objective reality, and incontrovertible. Facts can be verified independent of one’s point of view. Two people who disagree on everything else will nevertheless agree on basic facts. They will agree that water evaporates at 100 degrees Celsius or that fish can’t survive out of water.

Truth on the other hand is a subjective perception and is debatable. One person will believe that water gives life, while the other believes that rain ruins the day. Each person holds their belief to be the ultimate truth.

Facts help us understand reality. But facts do not give us guidance. Guidance comes from purpose. Purpose comes from belief. And belief is what you hold to be true. Thus, progress depends on Truth, not facts.

Truth is merely a perception of reality that drives one’s actions. If that perception is based on facts, it can be validated in practice. On the other hand, if your Truth is based on blind faith, it limits your ability to adjust your perception. Blind faith or the unquestioned acceptance of a maxim prevents adaptation when contrary evidence presents itself.

So, it is important to shape your Truth grounded in facts and not on dogmatic believes.

Southgate Media Foundation sees its role as the provider of facts that can help shape your Truth.

We will offer analysis of the facts. Our view of the Truth may influence this analysis. Nonetheless, we do not expect you to accept it on face value. As the wise man said, we will show the facts. You can seek Truth from that.
